Production of renewable energy for powering the greenhouses, entire farms, and eventually feeding the grid
Spectral is structuring a Solar PV program for our farming partners enabling them to power their greenhouses with renewable energy. We are leveraging declining Solar PV prices, combined with the buying power of our EPC partner Stuart Olson and government grants, to generate acceptable commercial returns for our farming partners from renewable energy.
We are launching our renewable energy program in Q4 2021, offered to our greenhouse farming partners on a modular basis. Initial microgeneration installs will range from 1-5 MW each. Phase two (2022-2023) will involve expansion of existing Solar PV installs and bringing our whole farming network into the program—including farms without greenhouses.
Use of Solar PV to power the greenhouses will make our greenhouse operations almost completely carbon neutral. Renewables are good investment in clean energy, pollution reduction, and climate change mitigation, and also support economic diversification and job creation in new technologies.
